I am a writer and artist, teaching at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. My numerous awards include two Fulbrights, grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and a TED talk. My creative life encompasses writing as well as visual art: In addition to creative prose and essays about art and art processes, I craft fiction and hard to categorize prose pieces, as well as traditional stories and books.
My debut novel: YOU SHOULD HAVE KNOWN will be published April 2023 from Crooked Lane Books!
My short fiction has appeared in journals and anthologies, my essays about art have been included in exhibition catalogues and textbooks, and my hybrid-prose-artworks have been commissioned by museums, including interventions in online archives.
